Storytime #23 - Social Support / Skills: How to Be a Supportive Friend to Someone With Dyslexia

My Issue as an important subject to others like me.
I’m sorry, I didn’t post this before; but, it’s sometimes frustrating, because sometimes wished I didn’t have a learning disability and be normal like everyone else. However, it’s an important post as seriously subject of mine to socialize with other people or friends.

I was born premature (1 pound, 2 oz.) on February 20, 1986. I was supposed to be born on sometime in Summer of 1986, (on the same day and month in June - as both of my parents.) But, my mother had lost two miscarriages before me. - So, I was very lucky to be alive until this point - to explain my life to other people from this blog site.

From most of my childhood/grammer school years, I went to three different schools, (Rock Chapel Elementary, Pine Ridge Elementary, and Redan Elementary) around my area in Lithonia, Georgia. (I don’t remember very much of being born until my toddler years, living in Atlanta, Georgia; for my first 5 years of my life.)
I was very, sometime different for me; to be in a Special ED. Classroom with other students, and was hard to understand or make friends during that time. Then, I went to middle school, Stephenson Middle School; with a better chance to understand my social skills with others. Then, in high school; I have experienced some more things as possible to be a better person. However; it took me, a year to get my high diploma, after I graduated from Stephenson High School. Then, after high school, it took me, another two more years, prepare for my first college journey in 2008.
It was frustrating, to learn after I entered my first college: Georgia Perimeter College, for one semester; I was rejected, because I was ashamed and embarrassed to tell that college about my learning disability. So, I was transferred to another college, next door, Dekalb Technology(Tech.) College. And explain my learning disability to them. Then after maybe a year or two, there; I transferred again into my current college, Chattahoochee Technology(Tech.) College in 2010 - present time and told them too.
I’m also working on returning again, next year; in the field of study on majoring: Design and Media Production.

Storytime #21: What gives you the “chills”?

When I was living in Lithonia, GA., United States in 1991 until 2009, I was in a big three-story house with my parents. During that time, I was there in my last few years in my earlier twenties, there was some theories of ghosts/spirits in my home. My mother witnessed a ghost/spirit a couple of time at night when everyone else was asleep. I thought it was strange at first. Then in my earlier twenties, I witnessed it myself. (I remember it well, I was alone at night once on the second level of the house. One day, I was going into the kitchen to get something and before I was back to watch television that evening, I saw a ghost/spirit in the dinner room. I believed it was a woman from the earlier 1900s century, she was seating on a chair of the dinner room table. And she waved at me.) I got my chills as I returned to watch television in living room. Since then, I respect the dead - ghost/spirit.

Storytime #19: The 1996 Summer Olympics: Opening or Closing Ceremony

One of my favorite memories before my teenage years was when my cousin and I, along with a group of individuals; participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics opening or closing ceremony (both my cousin and I were 10 years old at the time, but I don’t remember which ceremony.) It was nice memories of preparing before the big event. My favorite part of it was during the ceremony of the 1996 Summer Olympics, we ran a quarter of way around in the stadium to prepare for the next placement before the ceremony was finished. Also my favorite movement of the ceremony was when the torch relay was passed to boxing legend, Muhammad Ali to lit the Olympic cauldron. The bad thing was even though we didn’t get to see what we did or see the 1996 Summer Olympics on T.V. afterwards; we were part of history there.

Great news! Ghost Hunters is returning for another season. I’m excited to see it again. The T.V. Show reminds me of the time back a few years in Lithonia, Georgia, United States before I moved with my parents to Powder Springs, Georgia, United States in 2009. When I witness a ghost/spirit in our three-story house, I felt little scared of it at first, but didn’t think of it. What happened before 2009, my mother witnessed a ghost/spirit in our house before me. I guess the location when our house was build, once had people a century before us. I remember when I witnessed it too one night, when I was going to the kitchen cross from the living room to get something. As I was returning to living room to watch T.V., I saw a ghost/spirit in the dinner room, just sit in a chair and waving at me. But like I mentioned before; at first, I was a little scared of it because I never seen one before, I didn’t think of it as I went back to the living room. This ghost/spirit I saw was a woman, I believe to be from somewhere around the 1800s to early 1900s. Since that day, I respect grace sites of those who lived before us.

Here’s a backstory / tips from my experience as a blogger:

I use it (my blog site) from Blogger.com as my passion and my second blog since last year.

My first blog started in high school, which also I used Blogger.com, but I deleted it to focus on my college journey in 2008. (My first blog was basically to see what I could do and had fun with it without being serious with it, then a business side as I’m currently doing now.)

My second blog currently, is focus on the business side with social media to gain more attention and traffic. With a variety of topics and post, it’s takes others to see what I think about - issues and interest I have.

When first started this blog, back late in 2018; I decided one day, I’m going to write a blog. But also wanted to keep part of my first blog’s name/web address (URL) (from my high school years: 2001 - 2005.) From my experience of having a mental illness(health) since back in summer of 2012, after being in a terrible car accident. I want to help others understand what I been though. In addition, I want to share some experiences from my past and present called - Storytime(s). Also, being a well around blogger of topics of various of kinds, I learned from my past of my first blog I did in high school, (which I deleted it before I started my first college journey, back in 2008; as I said before.)

Since late in 2018, I been working on my current blog (second one) from a hobby into a business based for all visitors to see it. - With my main social media: Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook Business pages as a guideline to build more visits to my blog site. Recently, in last couple of months, I also added Instagram page and most recent, Snapchat and Facebook pages. I hope to be known as a great business person one day.

Storytime #18: My Journey of Shaving and Growing A Beard

My journey of shaving and growing a beard was interesting for me.
For my journey of shaving. - It began back in middle school, (Between the late 90s until the beginning of the next century, the 21th century.) I was about 15 years old then, and was curious about things. Anyway, the story of how I begin shaving was... My father had retired from the Atlanta Police Department for 30 years, that he decided to try something new... truck driving. While he was away, I was with my mother in our second home in Lithonia, GA. One day, I want to shave my face for the first time. I was so unsure how to shave well. With a razor, I remember shaving without shaving cream or lotion. After I was finished, I used alcoholic (to prevent cuts.) It turned out okay. Then when I went to high school, sometimes I had to rush to shave an hour or so before my school bus arrived to my house. It was frustrating that I had shave almost every day, until graduation from Stephenson High School. For the past couple of years, I been using Neutrogena products for men.
For my journey of growing a beard. - Before I began my college journey two years later after I graduated from high school in 2005. I had been used to the routine of shaving and wanted to grow a beard of some kind. So I experimented on a few of them. But before that, I remembered when I seen an old picture of my father, back in the day where he was once “tried to have a beard like Teddy Pendergrass.” (I personally was not impressed of it, but I was curious to what kind of beard I want since my father had a beard, back in the day.) When I was 19 or 20 years old, I had just started with a soul patch, for a short while. Then when I went to my first college in 2008, I developed having a chinstrap beard along with a soul patch. And since then, I been having a chinstrap beard with soul patch for years. However, how to maintain it, took some work to figure out. For a while, I used a plastic comb, which later I found out it not good to use for my beard. Then I went on YouTube and found a guy named Brandon Patton a.k.a (also known as) “Ya Boy B.”, who is very good with his health / beauty products for black men on how to manage men’s hair, skin, and beards from his experience, about a year or two ago. I have recently maintain my beard with a wooden comb, trim any split ends and fly aways (every third or fourth week), and use some of  “Ya Boy B.’s My Evan Alexander Grooming products. Also once every month, as I get my haircut, I also ask / remind the barber to trim down my beard because I don’t like it too long after a month of growth. And when I get home within the same week of getting my haircut and beard trimmed down, with help of my mother to color my beard - from gray back into black again.
